Planning is half the work

Coffee show is a time and money investment, make sure to plan well and set up success criteria in advance: Is it about generating new business leads? Do you need to meet with your current clients and lock a few new contracts?

A meet-list and schedule appointments before arriving is the key. You don't need to prepare lengthy PowerPoint presentations - nobody has time for that - but have your brand message and elevator pitch ready on the go.

Bring business cards, flyers and green coffee samples, and only hand out samples to those who show real interest.

When it is show time

Once you hit the show floor, game is on! Remember to keep your eyes on the prize and don't get sidetracked: prepare for your meetings, make sure you have time and locations set.

Feel free to collect many business cards, however, if you  land a really good lead, make sure to write down the meeting notes and how to follow up. You’d be surprised how much is forgotten once you return back to the work routine.

Take part in a few show activities, such as a lecture or a workshop, You may just land an unexpected opportunity by participating actively.

Calm after the storm

After a coffee show, most folks feel exhausted. So there is no need to rush to reach out to leads right away.

Instead, prioritize reviewing and qualifying all your leads. Reconnect with your leads only when you are ready with the necessary details,

You’d be surprised how often leads that look very promising during the show, turn out to be flukes. If you think a lead has turned cold, just move on. Plenty more opportunities to tackle!
